Semi-Pit Weighbridges

Semi-pit weighbridges are constructed partially in the ground, allowing the deck's weighing surface to be at ground level. The advantage is that ramps are not required and thus the weighbridge takes up less of the site than an above ground weighbridge. The disadvantage is that, excavating the pit for the weighbridge foundation is more expensive than the limited excavations required for an above ground weighbridge, making this option more expensive than the above ground weighbridge.
Access to the loadcells is required which is why side walls are generally constructed 1m from the deck. Alternatively, sides walls can be constructed adjacent to the deck provided access holes are constructed either in the deck or in the side wall adjacent to each loadcell, to allow for maintenance and cleaning.
