A second Concrete Deck Weighbridge was recently commissioned at a waste transfer station for the City of Whitehorse in Melbourne.
Supplied by Ultrahawke at Campbellfield, this second Weighbridge was installed to eliminate traffic congestion at this busy site by providing dedicated inbound and outbound traffic lanes.
The new 19m x 3m above ground weighbridge uses a single concrete weighing deck of 60,000kg weighing capacity. Due to the slope of the land, the ground was excavated at the entry for the weighbridge deck to be level with the existing roadway but with a 4m long ramp at the weighbridge exit which is above ground level.
To conform to Weights and Measures regulations, loadcell access hatches were installed in the weighbridge deck at the end below ground level to provide access to the weighbridge load cells. A safety rail and platform were installed on one side of the weighbridge to conform to OH&S regulations for driver safety when accessing to the driver control station.
Both concrete deck weighbridges are fitted with large digit remote displays to enable drivers to view their vehicle weights when entering and leaving the transfer facility.
