Semi-Pit Weighbridge For P&O In NSW

A Semi-Pit Weighbridge was recently commissioned at POAGS’ Kooragang Island freight terminal in New South Wales. Supplied by Ultrahawke in Melbourne, the heavy duty concrete deck Weighbridge is being used for weighing tipper trucks delivering grain to the new receiving facility.

Semi-Pit Weighbridge

Due to the weighbridge positioning in a narrow building that wasn’t wide enough for the legally required 750mm side access to allow for cleaning and servicing needs, a semi-pit weighbridge foundation was used with access hatches built into the weighing deck itself. Special dispensation was also required from NMI to replace the usual one metre of level approach/departure concrete pads with the steel grating fitted to one end of the weighbridge for receiving the grain.

Ultrahawke’s eighteen metre long weighbridge uses a heavy duty concrete weighing deck supported on six Flintec Weighbridge Load Cells of thirty tonnes capacity for a certified weighing capacity of sixty tonnes. A large digit remote display was fitted to allow drivers to read their vehicle’s weight reading without exiting the cab.

A PC running Ultrahawke’s Weighbridge Management Software was also supplied to product vehicle weight tickets using an external printer and for generating comprehensive management reports.

Ultrahawke is Australia’s oldest manufacturer of weighbridges and heavy duty weighing equipment and has been in operation for over 150 years. Based in Campbellfield in Melbourne’s North, Ultrahawke also recently opened a branch in South Africa to cater for the increased demand for quality weighbridges in that country.
